Château Tour des Gendres - Cuvée des Conti 2018
We are here on the Bergerac vineyard, located in the Dordogne department around the town of Bergerac. The Bergerac vineyard produces 13 AOCs, covers 12,800 ha, of which 5,300 ha are for AOCs of white wines, 14% of production goes to exports.
The Conti family, of Italian origin, settled in 1925, on the grounds of Bridoire castle, the vines of which had been destroyed by the Phylloxera at the beginning of the 19th. In the 1980s, Luc De Conti, assisted by his wife Martine, recovers a few hectares of old vines and also plants new plots which will produce the first vintage in 1985. Francis, his cousin joined the farm in 1990, his 20 hectares of Saint Julien d'Eymet vines are added to the Gendres and Grand Caillou vineyards.
The Château Tour des Gendres now has 52 hectares in dry Bergerac AOC, the whole has been carried out in organic farming since 1994 and in organic conversion certified Agrocert since 2005.
The "Cuvée des Conti", it is an excellent price-pleasure ratio, at less than 10 €, it consists of 50% of Semillon picked very ripe and partially passerillé (the passerillage is a method of over-ripening by natural drying of the grapes in the air), 40% Sauvignon and 10% Muscadelle.
The "Cuvée des Conti" is the very expression of Sémillon which brings a very beautiful aromatic complexity to this vintage combining roundness and liveliness, the robe is pale gold, brilliant with aromas of acacia flower, orange blossom, white peach accompany a mouth of roundness, liveliness and balance.
Served between 10 and 12 ° C, this wine to drink before 2025 will nicely accompany your seafood platters, your grilled fish or a small goat cheese. In any case, it was unanimous with the red mullet with which I had served it.
